WestAM is winner in S&P European Fund Awards

WestAM, the asset management arm of WestLB, performed excellently at this year's S&P European Fund Awards, with the WestAM Compass Fund family gaining recognition in a number of categories and asset classes.

The WestAM Compass Global Emerging Markets Fund won twice in the category of Global Emerging Markets Europe-wide, over both three years and five years. "We expect emerging markets to rise by 30 to 40 per cent in 2004", says Allan Conway, Global Head of Emerging Markets at WestAM. "The main reasons for this are that the upturn in the global economic cycle benefits emerging markets, that they are still relatively cheap compared to developed markets and are expected to grow at a significantly higher rate." WestAM’s Global Emerging Markets product was also successful in the individual country awards, winning first place in both Italy and Switzerland over five years.

The WestAM Compass Euro Balanced Fund won first place in the Euro Balanced Funds over one year category in Italy.

In addition to the fund awards, WestAM as a managing group ranked second in Italy in the category of Smaller Companies over five years and achieved third place in the category of Specialist Group Awards over five years Europe-wide.

Commenting on the awards, Luke Nunneley, Global CEO at WestAM said,

"The awards confirm that since establishing the WestAM Compass Fund five years ago, we have successfully developed a wide range of products with strong performance and effective risk controls".
